While it’s true that the best things in wrestling happen in the ring, it’s also true that the things happening before the match can be equally fun. Let’s take the top wrestling promotions, for example.

These promotional interviews are used for several things. They make the wrestling matches more popular and exciting even before they begin. Additionally, they promote rivalry. We should also mention that some of these promos let the fans learn more about the athletes. Based on these monologues or dialogues, we can create a story and relate to some participants or hate others.

Many wrestlers became famous thanks to the best WWE promos they’ve delivered even though they were not that successful in the ring. In some cases, these talks are serious and deep, while in others, they are humorous and strictly for entertainment purposes. Since every person has a unique taste, we’ve compiled a list of the best wrestling promos that meet various requirements. You can check the list below!

1. Randy Savage / Macho Man – Cream of the Crop Promo

Unfortunately, Randy Savage, aka Macho Man, is no longer among us (he died in 2011). However, he is still known for some of the biggest wrestling promotions you’ve seen. Of course, his Cream of the Crop promo was the most popular one. He held a small pack of milk for coffee during most of the interview, talking about how good he was. Of course, he was kind enough to point out that the other wrestlers are good, but he is the cream of the crop – crΓ¨me de la crΓ¨me. We also like his grotesque performance, like he was holding up because he can enter a rage mode at any moment!

2. The Rock – Billy Gun Promo

Dwayne Johnson is a famous actor now playing in blockbusters. But, before that, he was a WWE athlete known for best WWE promos. Clearly, he is a talented actor simply by watching his Billy Gun promo. This is a good choice for those looking for humorous promotions in which The Rock absolutely trashes Billy Gun. The Rock mocks Billy by presenting an imaginary dialogue between Gun and God. Simply put, he is scared of Dwayne and tries to change God’s mind about his decision to make The Rock his opponent. That’s an excellent way to strike fear in the heart of your enemies!

3. The Rock – Die Rocky Die Promo

From The Rock also comes one of the most famous wrestling quotes of all time – I got three words: Die, Rocky, Die! This time he was complaining about the fans that were hating him nationwide. Of course, he blamed them for being jealous and disrespectful despite his success. He even called these people “pieces of crap”. He pointed out that he was the youngest Intercontinental champion in World Wrestling Federation history. Interestingly, Dwayne Johnson has used this promotion to highlight the racism in wrestling. After all, he felt pressure from White and Black people because he was not considered “white nor black”.

4. Ric Flair – Limousine Ridin’ Promo

It goes without saying that Ric Flair is one of the WWF/WWE legends. In fact, he was the co-owner of WWF for two years at the beginning of the 21st century. We can also mention his great results not just in this competition but also in other wrestling competitions. In what’s known as one of the top wrestling promotions, Ric Flair brags about his accomplishments and style in less than a minute, and he does that powerfully. Even years after this promo, people are still talking about the “limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, Rolex wearin’, diamond ring wearin’ son of a gun”! Add the Tennessee accent to this statement, and you know we have a legendary promotion here.

5. Hulk Hogan – Turns Heel with the NWO Promo

This wrestling promo happened in 1996 and caught the fans by surprise. As you know, not all WWE matches are individual, and wrestlers can team up. In this case, Hulk Hogan teamed up with Nash and Hall (The Outsiders) to create an unbeatable crew. He then talked about the New World Order of wrestling. Yes, that was when Hulk attacked the so-called WCW loyalists (Randy Savage). Hulk Hogan announced that he was leaving the WCW and starting the NOW during the match. The latter didn’t succeed much, but it’s still active even today.

6. Steve Austin / Stone Cold – Austin 3:16 Promo

It’s simply impossible to create a list of top wrestling promotions without mentioning Steve Austin, aka Stone Cold. Several of his promos were fantastic, but the Austin 3:16 was probably the best. You can see the “King of the Ring” going to the throne after defeating Jake “The Snake” Roberts in 1996. The 3:16 reference is related to the Psalms, but Steve Austin uses a language that you can’t find in the Holy Book. Also, he promises to defeat all those who dare to face him in the future, making this promo as exciting as a promo can be.

7. Mick Foley / Cactus Jack – Problem with being Hardcore Promo

If you are looking for emotional wrestling speeches, you’ve come to the right place. Cactus Jack staged quite a performance before one of his fights. He was riding on an emotional roller-coaster, speaking calmly and ragefully at the same time. In this rant, Cactus Jack addresses Tommy Dreamer. He talks about actual wrestlers and the meaning of being hardcore in this profession. He has many good points, so don’t hesitate to listen to this clip from the beginning to the end.

8. Chris Jericho – WWE Debut Promo

They say that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Apparently, Chris Jericho took this quote seriously and prepared an awesome WWE debut promo. Even after 20 years (this promo took place in 1999), it’s still fun to watch how he stands tall in the ring, promising that he will save the declining World Wrestling Federation. Chris became a WWF international champion in the next two years. He also had a fantastic career in WCW and even in NJPW. Interestingly, you can see The Rock in this promo, too, dissing on Jericho (we would say unsuccessfully).

9. Dusty Rhodes – Hard Times Promo

It’s a face and appearance that you can’t miss or ignore. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes became a professional wrestler in 1974. However, this promo was created in 1985, and it’s still one of the best WWE promos. Most of this promotion is about his upcoming match against Ric Flair, aka Nature Boy. He is taunting Ric, calling him a man with no honor or respect. The really fun part is when he talks about appearance (chubby), but that doesn’t change his mind about his odds against Nature Boy. When Dusty Rhodes is on the scene (be it in the ring or in front of the camera), you can rest assured that you’ll witness enjoyable moments.

10. Daniel Bryan – The YES Movement is Dead Promo

The YES Movement in WWE started in 2014 due to fans’ chants. In addition to the muscular athletes, the fans favored underdogs who were not supposed to reach the finals. Daniel Bryan was one of the wrestlers who encouraged this movement and proven that you don’t have to be the biggest or strongest to win a competition like this. Still, you sure have to be the toughest guy in the arena. However, since the crowd lost interest in his character, Daniel decided to become more arrogant, which we can clearly hear and see in his speech here.

11. Edge – I have to Retire Promo

Like John Wayne once said – There are some things a man just can’t run away from. One of these things is the process of aging. Adam Copeland, aka Edge, is one of the most successful Canadian wrestlers in the WWF/WWE championships. What makes the “I have to Retire” promotion one of the best wrestling promos is the fact that it caught the fans by surprise. No one predicted that Edge would stop his career the year after he became a record-breaking World Heavyweight Champion. However, when he made the promo, he was a wrestler for 19 years, which is a long time. On top of that, he mentioned all the injuries suffered, all the things he had to give up on, and his willingness to “start living a normal life”. The fun part is that he returned to the ring in 2020 as part of the Royal Rumble.

12. CM Punk – Maybe I’ll go back to the Ring of Honor (The Pipe Bomb) Promo

Some of the biggest wrestling promotions had CM Punk in the central role. Phillip Brooks, aka CM Punk, started his career with Ring of Honor, but he joined WWE after a few years. He became WWE champion two times. Even though CM Punk retired in 2014, he got back in 2021 as part of the All Elite Wrestling competition. In this speech, he is taunting John Cena after a knockdown. He calmly sits next to the ring, bragging about his success in WWE and how he is considering leaving this competition because he can’t find a worthy opponent.

13. Triple H – Evolution has just passed you by Promo

As we said before, some of the best WWE promos are actually debuting promos. That’s the case with this clip featuring Triple H (Paul Levesque). He was a professional wrestler for two years before he joined WCW. A year later, he joined WWF (WWE). In this competition, he grabbed the public’s attention after co-establishing the D-Generation X stable. Of course, the “Evolution has just passed you by” promo contributed to his popularity. This was a great way to promote the Evolution stable. Don’t forget that Batista, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair were part of this successful stable.

14. Joey Styles – Sick of Sports Entertainment Promo

Now here’s another performance loaded with emotions. Another thing that makes this clip interesting is that Joey Styles is not actually a wrestler – he is an announcer and commentator (although he entered the ring a few times to help other athletes). As you can see in the video, he is announcing his resignation because he’s “sick of sports entertainment”. It’s funny that Joey mentioned Jim Ross, another popular WWE commentator, and publicly discussed the relationships within the organization.

15. Bray Wyatt – Sister Abigail Promo

Our list of best wrestling promotions includes one performed by Bray Wyatt. To be honest, the audience never really liked his in-ring performance. Still, his promos and the character himself were pretty interesting. You can tell that by watching this video, for example. In this highly spiritual speech, he talks about a facebuster/faceplant, a takedown move in pro wrestling also known as Sister Abigail. So, this may sound like a prophecy or a thrilling part of the Bible, but Bray is talking about fighting and winning matches.
