The WSOP Online Super Circuit Series is in its second week of its current eighteen day run. The results have resulted in remarkable numbers.

The increasing intensity of social distancing has become an integral part in the gaming population action, attempting to cut spreading of the coronavirus. The recent pandemic has also been driving players to online poker sites following the WSOP. The Super Circuit events have been listed at close to tripled numbers to their guaranteed prize pools.

Why do Players Care About the Numbers?

The WSOP is currently the only multi-player poker site, and has a single $100,000 guarantee listed on its weekly schedule.

New Jersey proudly stated PokerStars typically only raises their stakes that high for its annual NJCOOP and NJSCOOP series. Every Super Circuit event has surpassed these previous amounts.

Is The WSOP Super Circuit Seriously Replacing Live Poker?

Casino closures due to the outbreak of COVID-19 caused casinos to move to a safer and profitable realm, moving their time to the enhancement of their online gambling platforms.

The WSOP announced there would be a temporary halt to its live WSOP Circuit events. These locations include six on American grounds as well as two in Europe:

  • Harrah’s Atlantic City
  • King’s Resort, Czech Republic
  • Bicycle Casino Los Angeles
  • Hard Rock Tusla
  • Bally’s Las Vegas
  • Harrah’s Cherokee
  • Casino Barriere Le Croisette, France
  • Horseshoe Council Bluffs

No one has an estimate of when these events will resume, but the recent growing fear from the outbreak is causing necessary precaution to not only the nation, but the overall world precaution to keep the people safe.

The Coronavirus has prevented many gamers to either play online as well as travel outside the country to play on major dot-com sites. Will these numbers continue to rise? Will these numbers fall once casino regain access to normal function?

As of March 16th, PokerStars PA recorded daily increases of 2,000 daily; Traffic has more than doubled within the last two weeks. They proudly celebrated its anniversary of its Sunday Million this weekend with a guaranteed prize of $12.5 million. That is a monetary record for the tournament.

Feel free to look at the numbers, but online gambling may be the one positive outcome from the terrible COVID-19 outbreak. Please do not take that out of context. The pandemic is terrible and is affecting thousands of lives. Everyone worldwide needs to take their necessary precautions to stay safe. But there is also an outbreak of the interest in online gaming that cannot be ignored. Will this change the world of gambling once we make it through this? Time will tell.
