Caribbean Stud Poker Online 2020: Rules, Winnings & Odds
Also known as Casino stud poker, the Caribbean stud poker is a table game in which players compete against the house instead of other players, this makes it different from standard poker games which require another player. David Sklansy claimed to have invented this game in 1982 and named it ‘Casino Poker’. The rules were quite different as there was no progressive jackpot. Unfortunately, he could not patent the game back then due to the patent policy at the time. A few years later, the game was bought from him by Excelsior Casino in Aruba, then it was patented and renamed ‘Caribbean stud poker’. The Caribbean stud poker has a very high paying potential for good players as will be explained shortly. Other card games or table games as many prefer to call it include Blackjack and roulette.
- The Caribbean stud poker can be played, bet on and won by anybody
- The game is designed for those who just gained expertise in regular card games
- It is just like other regular online poker games but it removed the element of bluffing
- The game can be played one on one between player and dealer
- The player and dealer play format is similar to the Blackjack card game
Caribbean stud poker Game Process?
The Caribbean stud poker is a game of cards played against the house or the dealer. It is not that difficult to play but it would be better if players get as much familiarity with the game before they begin gambling on it. The set-up of the game is quite easy to understand as is shown below;
At the start of the Caribbean stud poker game, the player places an Ante bet which is usually from 2 two o five dollars. The Ante bet is just a bet as whether the player would get better five cards than the dealer. Afterwards, the dealer and the player are dealt five cards each with one of the dealer’s cards facing up and all the player’s cards facing down.
Then the game starts in full. Place your cards to the left of the ante box and call the bet, this means that you bet double of your ante bet. If you bet two dollars on ante, then your call bet will be four dollars, the call bet is just a second bet which is double your ante, so in total it becomes a six dollars bet.
Caribbean stud poker payouts are illustrated below;
|A pair||Even money or 1 to 1|
|2 pairs||2 to 1|
|3 of a kind||3 to 1|
|Straight||4 to 1|
|Flush||5 to 1|
|Full house||7 to 1|
|Four of a kind||20 to 1|
|Straight flush||50 to 1|
|Royal flush||100 to 1|
If the dealer has a qualifying hand by having a king or an ace, the player gets something in return, if he wins. For instance, if a player has four of a kind, he gets even money, the money he bet on the ace and four times his call money. That is;
$2 plus 4 * $4 (call money) = $18
If the dealer wins, he takes both bets, the ante and the call bet.
On the other hand, if the dealer has a bad selection, the player only gets even money, that, $2, but he gets to push their raise bet.
Players should always hold on to their cards and not fold if they have; Ace, King, jack, eight and three. Any of these five, is good gaming, otherwise, fold your cards and do not play. If you fold, you lose your ante bet.
In the progressive play, there is a huge pay out if you have a straight flush. Unlike slot where you play the game hoping to hit a jackpot, you have to bet $1 on the jackpot before you place a bet on your ante.
- Players must either fold or raise bets
- Folding means that both ante and call bets are lost
- The dealer must have an ace, king or higher to qualify
- If there is a tie, both ante and call will push.
